    Go GP!!!

So I got to make a really fun cake for one of my favorite customers.

She always has the best ideas for cakes and I just love her b/c she is all about her boys. So her oldest son Hunter was having a big senoir football party and of course Nikke needed a really cool cake so I was happy to make it.

This was one I hadn't done before and I loved figuring it out. It is always a little bit of a challenge figuring out how to get a block of cake to look like something inedible, realistic and yet something you still want to eat. And getting it to be moist and delicious when you go to cut it. So that is part of the challenge and the fun. I do love a good challenge and I have definately had a few. Thankyou Nikke!

A fun birthday cake for mom

It was my moms bday and I had been super busy working on cakes for other people that I hadn't taken the time to plan out something really great for her. So I got one of my favorite cakebooks out and let my kids pick a cake and this is what they both agreed on.The best part was I actually let them help me which is rare. ( I don't let them stick there little hands in just anyones cake) you'll be glad to know. So they loved cutting out the polka dots and letters out of fondant and getting to surprise their MiMi with it...She was so happy and loved that the kids decorated it.

    The cutest babyshower cake ever!!!

I had the great pleasure of making a cake for a really good friend this past weekend.

This was not your average baby shower with all the cheesy games and normal looking sheet cake. Of course since I did it. I very much dislike sheet cakes BTW.

So when planning this shower we wanted to do something fun and different that totally reflected the mommy(Courtney).  So we got this great idea for the theme and color scheme from her baby bedding which is a gorgeous chocolate brown and vibrant modern green. And Courtney's bedding is a cream and brown zebra print with bright green throw pillows...love it! I was all about this color scheme. Also Courtney is very diva like herself so we just decided to do a very fun non traditional shower. We had a fountain flowing with bright green punch and a chocolate fountain with lots of yummy strawberries, apples, marshmallows, and pretzels. I love just about anything dipped in chocolate.. even potato chips... you gotta try it!

But my favorite part of course was the cake. I had heard that she picked out a gold diaper bag but it didn't work out bc the inside was pink and that wouldn't work for a boy. So I took that and ran with it. The cake was a big present on the bottom and the top had a funky zebra striped diaper bag with gold detailing. The bottom layer was italian cream mmmm and the top layer (the bag) was dark chocolate fudge. Yum.

Baby Kaeo was born three months ago, very premature (born at 26 weeks) but is doing very well now, thank God! He didn't get to come to the shower b/c he is still so new and can't be exposed to all the handling and being passed around and such. But he is home now and doing amazing!

We are so happy for you Court and love you so much! Thank God for the wonderful blessing of baby Kaeo who is truly a miracle.

In case you haven't figured this out yet, I love to do unusual and out-of-the-ordinary cakes.

I get so excited when someone is having a special day or celebrating a special milestone because it means that I get to be creative and think of something that is unique to them and represents that person in a special way.  From baby blocks made out of actual blocks of chocolate fudge cake with smooth and creamy peanut butter filling...mmmmm.... to a sugar stiletto high heel with a shoe box cake filled with strawberries and cream and edible tissue paper. I will even replicate your favorite pair of shoes or even ice skates... the sky really is the limit here. If you can think of it I can just about do it. There isn't too much I won't attempt to recreate out of something edible and delicious. It is a challenge working with fragile sugar but that is what I love...A challenge. There is nothing worse than getting a call and someone just wants a plain old sheet cake. blah. So please don't. Well if it has some special flare to it I'll think about it. haha

Oh and the adorable little boy with the Hulk head is none other than Julies awesome nephew Eli. He also happens to be my daughter Abby's best buddy, aka boyfriend. but she can't call him that cause she is way too young to have a boyfriend.

Ok I haven't blogged in forever.

I have been super busy and haven't done this in forever...well I just haven't taken the time. But I still seem to make time to get on Julie's site. Isn't that interesting? I think its because I just love looking at all the beautiful photos. It makes me want to appreciate the little things that life has to offer. She seems to capture such small, but important details like a silly grin or funny face, a sleeping baby, I could go on and on... And I love nature and she always seems to have such a artistic take on it. I usually end up wanting to cry looking at her weddings. Her pictures capture the day so well that I almost feel like I got to be there. Its funny because I don't even know these people but I love to look, and I love the slide shows with the music. good choices by the way. If you aren't familiar with Julie Roberts Photography please please check out her blog here www.xanga.com/julierobertsphotography  or her website here www.julierobertsphoto.com I can't say enough good things about her. She is fabulous!

Ok so enough rambling...I guess that is the point though maybe when you blog...Is it? who knows. but it does feel kinda good to ramble on.

So I want to share some more cake pictures.

I recently did a first birthday cake for a lovely little girl named Riley.

You might recognize her from Julies blog because she was the flower girl in Emily and Rob's wedding.

Julie was out of town when I did this cake so I was happy to get some great pics from Whitney, Riley's mom.

She did a great job and I love the table setting.

By the way this cake was so fun because I absolutely love love ladybugs and I really enjoyed the little smash cake too.

I love the red lips on the ladybugs, they were my favorite.

Riley looks like she enjoyed her big day.

Thanks to Julie and Emma's Birthday Cake

Okay well I guess my first webblog post has went okay so I will go for it again.

I started on this blog site because my good friend Julie Roberts of Julie Roberts Photography has been hooking me up with so many wonderful photographs of my cakes. Thankyou Julie! I can't say enough wonderful things about her...She is so increadible as I am sure you all already know. She has not only been taking these great photos but she has just given me so much help in so many other ways too. She has been where I am as far as starting up a new business goes and learning all the ins and outs of being a business woman.  I can't can't express how grateful I am to her.THANKYOU THANKYOU Julie!!! You are such an inspiration to me...

So anyway Julie already had a blog on here so I thought I might as well open one up and go for it. I am still not exactly sure how it all works but I am trying so please be patient with me.  I have found myself looking at Julies blog almost every day and sometimes more than a few times a day..and not even going on my own...haha

As I get busier and busier with cakes I want to get them up and get your feedback. So please feel free to leave me comments telling me what you think about them.

A few weeks ago I celebrated my 30th birthday and it just so happens to be the same day as my very best friends little girls birthday. wow that is a mouthful. haha

So I got to make her first birthday cake and I loved every minute of it. I know that sounds weird kinda, but you have to know my friend Kristie. She is so amazing and has wanted a little girl for so long and it was such a joy to share the same day with her and do something nice for her.

so here is a few photos of the cake and little Emma...Oh and she also happens to be Julies niece which made it all the more special.b144207993

    Blaine's Mac Birthday Cake

Okee I am trying a weblog and I hope it works...I am still trying to figure out how to post things on here. I want to get better about posting pictures so here I go...we'll see if it works.

I recently did a birthday cake to surprise my friend Blaine who is putting my website together. He has been so great to work with and I wanted to do something special for his 30th birthday. He is a really great website designer and I would highly reccomend him.

    0008-1

He had know idea that I was making him a cake so it was really fun surprising him. As you can guess he loves his Mac and the picture on the screen saver is one of him that I stole from his myspace profile.

I love the edible post it note that says "Happy Birthday Blaine" and there is even an edible no.2 pencil.

I will keep you posted as to when my website is up and ready to view. I will be needing some of you to help me test it out and work out all of the bugs if any.
